Workforce Housing Tax Credit
May 22, 2024 by The Workforce Housing Tax Credit (WFHTC) is proposed to address the housing affordability crisis for middle-income households by leveraging federal funds with private investment to build rental housing. It aims to complement the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), covering 50% of construction costs for units set aside for households earning up to 100% of Area Median Income (AMI). With a growing need for 4.3 million new apartments by 2035, the WFHTC seeks to alleviate the shortage and high costs that have escalated since the 2008 financial crisis. https://www.nmhc.org/advocacy/issue-fact-sheet/workforce-housing-tax-credit-fact-sheet-fact-sheet/
