US DoT: Biden-Harris Administration Announces New Climate and Transportation Research Funding
October 03, 2023 The Biden-Harris Administration has introduced the Department of Transportation (DOT) Climate and Transportation Research Initiative, allocating $2.5 million for its first year. This initiative aims to tackle climate change and transportation issues through research collaborations between the DOT and eligible organizations, such as universities. U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg emphasized the increasing frequency and severity of climate-related disasters, highlighting the need for cleaner transportation systems. The Climate and Transportation Research Center will focus on developing technologies to support clean energy goals, enhance transportation infrastructure resilience, and mitigate environmental impacts. The initiative will provide funding to selected universities or nonprofits and their partner organizations for up to five years, subject to fund availability.
