Link: ULI Meeting Tour Preview of San Francisco’s Mission Rock Mixed-Use Waterfront

Mission Rock, a 28-acre waterfront redevelopment across from San Francisco’s Oracle Park, is transforming a former parking lot into a mixed-use neighborhood through a public-private partnership between the San Francisco Giants, the Port of San Francisco, and Tishman Speyer. Unlike typical stadium-adjacent projects, Mission Rock was designed as a standalone community, blending more than 1,000 apartments, office and lab space, retail, and eight acres of parks. Its first phase, completed in 2023–24, features four architecturally distinctive buildings and the five-acre China Basin Park, which hosts public events and connects to the Bay Trail. The project emphasizes cultural vibrancy, climate resilience, and sustainability, incorporating local food vendors, stormwater gardens, blackwater recycling, and a raised site to accommodate sea-level rise. By combining diverse design teams, public amenities, and a strong community focus, Mission Rock is emerging as a model for inclusive, climate-conscious urban waterfront development and a key piece of San Francisco’s broader revitalization.
