Link: Refurbished Home Plate Plaque Unveiled at Polo Grounds

The refurbished plaque was unveiled at the original Polo Grounds at an event attended by Willie Mays’ son, Michael Mays. It was a combined event with the NYPD and the Police Athletic League. These events are important to understand the history and culture of a neighborhood, the events that occurred there, and honoring those that came before.

“Keeping our city safe is about more than enforcement, it’s about honoring the history and building pride,” Assistant Deputy Mayor of Public Safety Mona Suazo said. “We worked with our partners to ensure that this plaque and the history it represents will continue to inspire generations to come.”
