Neighbors Fight Affordable Housing, but Need Libraries. Can’t We Make a Deal?
June 21, 2024 by A new library in the Inwood neighborhood of Manhattan recently opened up a library with affordable housing included above in the same building. As affordable housing projects face constant pushback, the combination of housing & libraries in the same structure has been a convincing factor as many people want more libraries in their area. This development wouldn’t have happened without upzoning of the neighborhood that was proposed over a decade ago by the de Blasio administration.
