Reinvest+ aims to bridge the global financial markets to spur adaptation and mitigation projects in developing countries. The central goal of the work is to unlock private capital by scaling local loans and climate finance. In order to do this, Reinvest+ builds off of seasoned loans, converts them into investment-grade securities by diversifying them and enhancing them with commercially priced portfolio insurance, recycles capital through conditionality where loans are purchased only if proceeds address climate goals, and empowers local banks to reinvest. The IDB group also has launched a call for proposals for partners interested in joining the initiative and purchasing assets in this upcoming year.
