Denver Housing to Health Project Housing Stability Payment Outcomes
June 04, 2024 by The Denver Housing to Health (H2H) project, launched in July 2022, is a seven-year initiative aimed at providing supportive housing for individuals experiencing homelessness who frequently interact with the criminal justice and emergency health care systems. Funded by a $11.75 million investment, the project aims to improve housing stability and reduce jail days, with outcome payments based on these goals. The initial assessment shows promising results, with 69 participants meeting the housing stability payment requirements, resulting in over 29,000 adjusted days in housing and a payment of $567,085.75 from the City of Denver. The project leverages private investments, grants, and Medicaid reimbursements to fund the housing units and is expected to deliver long-term evidence on the impact of supportive housing on health care utilization and costs. Overall, the H2H project demonstrates a successful model for addressing homelessness through affordable housing and supportive services.
