The One45 development in Harlem has officially received City Council approval after years of debate, clearing the way for a major mixed-use project that will bring nearly 1,000 new apartments to the neighborhood, including 338 affordable units. The plan includes three buildings with a mix of market-rate and affordable housing, a senior housing component, a tech and community center, commercial space reserved in part for local businesses, and investments in public amenities like playground upgrades and job training programs. While the project was revised to include more affordability and community benefits, some residents and advocacy groups remain critical, arguing that the income levels targeted are still too high for many in Harlem and that the plan does not go far enough to protect cultural and economic integrity.
