Summary:

The Indianapolis Cultural Trail, an acclaimed $63 million, 8-mile biking and walking trail, connects all six of Indy’s Cultural Districts, providing a safe and healthy way to explore the city. The trail was planned as a place for public art. Additional expansion added approximately two miles to the trail, incorporating 170,000 decorative pavers, stormwater planters, benches, bike racks, and other amenities, alongside funding for the trail’s maintenance and enhancement of its public art program. Approximately $4 million in private funding supported new public art projects along the trail. The project is a collaborative effort by the City of Indianapolis Department of Public Works and the Central Indiana Community Foundation.
